For those who are not familiar with your work, can you describe what people might expect to find at your pop up?

Hi my name is Lily, I am the creator and artist of Soul House. For those who are not familiar with my work, I am a small batch potter who works out of a studio that I built within my home. All the work that I display at my pop ups are 100% made by me from start to finish. Some items you might often find at my booth will be coffee mugs, bowls, vases, planters and such. My styles and colors are always changing as my creativity flows, each batch of goods is typically different, so I do suggest if you find a piece that you connect with, or catches your eye, grab that baby while you can, you never know what unique designs are coming and going. :)

Where do you find inspiration for your work?

I find my inspiration through listening to music that puts my soul in a groove.. from there I typically will get cozy in the studio and just start creating with not a whole lot planned out in my head besides maybe the weight of clay that I will be working with.. It's really exciting to try out different techniques and see what comes out of it, sometimes I learn lessons on what not to do and other times I find inspiration with what comes out of letting my creativity flow freely. Don't get me wrong I do find inspiration from fellow artists at times too but I do get the most enjoyment out of creating spontaneously.

Creating with your hands can be joyful and at times frustrating. How do you break through moments of frustration when things just are not going your way with clay?

Creating with your hands can be absolutely joyful but at times there can be frustration.. With anything in life things don't always go as planned and with pottery when I find myself in what I call a "creative rut '' I will simply stop myself within the process that I am in and walk away. It can be as simple as taking a short break to walk outside for some air or even go play with my dog Ollie, but there are days that I struggle to create anything at all. So when that happens I will take the time to remove myself from making anything in the studio until I feel driven to create again. Another thing with being an artist within any medium of art is you simply cannot force creativity and I tend to follow that rule for the most part. Then when stepping back into the studio, when I let my creativity recharge, that is where I feel my best work comes from.

What's your favorite Downtown LH gem?

My favorite downtown gem would have to be the cutest shop in Havasu with the best hand made goods as well as the sweetest owners i've met! The shop is called "Our Place" it is located behind the Red Onion, my go to breakfast spot. The house of my favorite omelette "The House Specialty" with home fries and a side of fruit).
