What inspires your work?
Other people’s art, the feelings I have, memories, music, the people around me, and the people I’ve never met inspire my art.
I think there’s always more that can be appreciated about everyday things and humans. I like to figure out why I like the things I like and put them in my art when I figure it out.
How do you choose who to draw?
I choose who to draw based on people who make me appreciate the uniqueness that a person can have.
It’s less focused on who I choose to draw and more about why. It’s more centered on their personalities, what they’ve done or made, and what they represent or emulate for me.
Whoever makes me think “theres only one them out there and that’s why people are so special.”
What mediums do you use?
I use all sorts of mediums like gouache, watercolor, and acrylic paint, colored pencil, crayons, and copic markers. I think the texture of art is really important, so I tend to use all these mediums at once.
What is your most favorite piece?
My most favorite piece is a painting I made of Ryder Mclaughlin because last year I promised myself I would learn how to use gouache and it was the first gouache painting I’ve ever made and also the best I’ve made.
It has really personal elements in it that kind of represent everything I’ve ever made, why I make the things I make, and the three most recent years prior to finishing that piece in January.
It makes me feel so proud and feels really personal to me when I look at it.
