November Ft. Artist: Kelly Malouin

Meet Kelly Malouin

Visit her Pop-Up inside YardCity on November 1st from 6-9PM.

Why do you create art?

I create art for my community. I believe that art is a collaborative effort because we all get our ideas from somewhere. Being able to help people or at least interact with them through my artwork is why I do what I do.

What are your favorite mediums?

My absolute favorite medium is white charcoal because of how it interacts with the paper. I also like the pop of it and dramatic effect. My most used medium, however, is acrylic paint, mostly due to school projects requiring it.

What is your art inspired by? What do you like to focus on when you draw?

I am really inspired by graphic novels and by stylized graphic design. I would love to focus on scene work and color theories, which is what I am studying in my college art class currently.

Any thoughts you want to share with fellow artists?

I think that artists should always strive to be part of their community. Not only does it help inspire ideas, but it also helps to give you a reason to do art. Helping other people and seeing the effect can be a fantastic motivator.

What can FF goer's expect to see at your Featured Artist booth?

First Friday goers can expect to see all handpainted and handdrawn artwork on a variety of canvas with a variety of different materials. Some things at my booth include origional paintings and drawings, hand-painted coasters, magnets, jewelry boxes, stickers, bird houses, and reusable bags!

Visit Kelly’s Pop Up inside YardCity on Nov. 1st from 6-9PM.
