Meet Lauren Albrecht of Lunare

Visit her Pop-Up inside YardCity on May 2nd from 6-9PM.

What do you create?

I make vibrant, handcrafted collage art from recycled and found paper here in Havasu.  Think: happy technicolor landscapes with a retro-futuristic twist and textural contrasts.

What inspired you to start creating in this way?

Inspired by a yearning for the physical world in contrast to our increasingly digital existence, my pieces are a direct reaction to the fragmented feeling of modern life's rapid pace and constant connectivity.

It also draws upon a lifetime of creative experimentation. My long-standing fascination with the texture and uniqueness of paper was reignited when I rediscovered a collection of magazines.

The intuitive, hands-on process of selecting colors and images, even down to the act of tearing paper by hand, is crucial. It imbues my art with a tangible quality that speaks to a desire for real connection, allowing the materials themselves to guide the expression of beauty and a sense of the intangible wonder.

Do you have a favorite piece in your current collection?

Right now it's "liminal."
