How long have you been in business, and open in Downtown?
We opened our first shop (under a different name) in 2017 but we had to close down when COVID-19 peaked. We knew we wouldn't be able to survive a shut down. We opened this shop about 5 months ago with a different name and more variety in product.
How did your passion for memorabilia become a brick and mortar business?
Nostalgia, Money and our own Collection. We realized several years ago that there was good money in collectibles and it was also something we loved. The opportunity to do something we love and make money at the same time was a no brainer.
What types of memorabilia can we find at Flashback?
We try to keep everything from the 70's and up. Mostly 90's merchandise is what we typically have, we prefer "in package" items, but we sell a lot of loose items as well and even a good amount of newer collectibles. To be able to go to a shop and see the same stuff hanging up that you saw 30 years ago is a great sensory overload for a lot of people. We get a lot of excited customers when they see Pokémon, Nintendo, Ninja Turtles figures etc.... I hear "I used to have that" at least a dozen times a day. I love to hear the excitement in their voices.
What experience will you bring to November's First Friday?
Just a feel good atmosphere when you walk in the door. We all need a bit of nostalgia and happiness after what we have all went through the last couple of years.
We are always searching for more merchandise. We also help valuate collections and even sell items on consignment if anyone has some old boxes of stuff laying around that they don't want anymore.
