I have narrowed down my materials of choice over the years to primarily acrylics and charcoals. I love to work with all materials and they each have unique characteristics that are fun to take advantage of when creating. I teach how to use each of the materials and have a hard time putting them down when Im done teaching.
FUN FACT
I grew up with a dad that is a painter and while navigating the world of being an artist it's been amazing to have someone to bounce ideas off of and talk about the field with. My dad had always been a huge asset during my pursuit of being an artist.
TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR PASSION FOR TEACHING ART
Being an artist and teaching art at the same time is truly an amazing experience. My creativity is fueled from working with students in class and they gain artistic motivation from being around me (at least I hope haha). I am always learning new techniques and approaches to my artwork that I end up bringing into the classroom. I find endless hours working on my artwork and I bring anything I learn from this experience into the classroom. My teaching of material use is very accessible to the students because I spend so much time practicing these materials I really understand the process of learning them. This is my 12th year teaching art at LHHS.
WHY FIRST FRIDAY?
I chose to show with FirstFriday because it's something I have never done and I am always trying to show my work in different environments. I have not shown my work in Lake Havasu for quite awhile so this is just a great opportunity for me.
